Thomas Suby & D.C. Ramon
For twenty years D.C. Ramon and Thomas Suby have collaborated creating wildlife sculptures utilizing a very dense local tree: Desert Ironwood (monotypic genus: Olneya tesota). Olneya Ironwood is found only in and around the Sonoran Desert, and is extremely hard and heavy. Due to its considerable hardness, sculpting desert ironwood is exceptionally difficult. Due to the density and homogeneity, it works a lot like stone.
